On his eighteenth birthday, martial arts champ Bruno Vega discovers that—like his great-grandfather before him—he can fly and detect corruption in human souls. He adopts the moniker of “Zopilote”—vulture—and fights in Mexico City to protect the innocent and the weak from being harmed by both criminals and the authorities. “Perseverance is rooted in hope” is his guiding philosophy, and it gets the attention of the mysterious Father Tonal, who recruits Bruno to attend a very special college, where he and other chispas can hone their abilities.

REPRESENTATION FOR LATINOS

CHISPA is a Latino imprint founded by the indie Los Angeles production company Mucho Mas Media.

Chispa is led by Héctor Rodríguez III (El Peso Hero), a successful Mexican American comic book creator, writer, and educator who has spent decades improving literacy in his community and building capacity among Latino creatives. He works closely with Mucho Mas Media CEO Javier Chapa, not only to showcase existing talent but also to shepherd, train, and provide work for up-and-coming comics writers and illustrators. Chispa then ensures that the books they create find their way both into the community and into the broader marketplace in which that work is certain to resonate.

As a division of Mucho Mas Media, Chispa will help broaden Latino representation and content in TV and film through adaptations of the titles it curates.
